M. David Avington, M.D.

Dr. M. David Avington, a native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, joined PCA in 1973. Dr. Avington majored in biology at Wheeling College, and he received his doctorate of medicine degree from Georgetown University in 1966. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Kentucky in 1973, and he completed his fellowship in cardiology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Dr. Avington is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the West Virginia Heart Association, and the West Virginia Medical Association. Dr. Avington's expertise within the field of cardiology includes general cardiology. Dr. Avington and his wife, Delores, are the parents of Carla and Bethany.

Dr. Avington retired from Parkersburg Cardiology Associates in October of 2011 after 38 years of practice.

Dr. Avington was awarded Emeritus status at Parkersburg Cardiology Associates in August of 2012.
